President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting the Federal Executive Council, with changes announced in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
According to the directive, Wale Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, will step down and hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who takes over the role. Oyedele previously served as minister of state in the ministry.
In the housing sector, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as minister designate for Housing and Urban Development, replacing Ahmed Dangiwa, who has been directed to hand over to the minister of state.
The memo stated that all handover processes must be completed on or before the close of business on April 23, 2026.
Explaining the decision, George Akume said the reshuffle is aimed at improving coordination, strengthening governance, and delivering more impactful economic outcomes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the president exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.
President Tinubu also thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours, while assuring that efforts to strengthen governance would continue.
