The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has set a new revenue record after collecting ₦28.102 billion in a single day on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The figure, which represents the highest single-day revenue collection in the history of the Command, was disclosed in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman.
The latest achievement surpasses the Command’s previous daily record of ₦20.1 billion, recorded in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the Customs Area Controller.
The new milestone comes shortly after another major achievement by the Command. In July 2026, Apapa Customs generated ₦323 billion, its highest monthly revenue collection to date. The July performance was attributed to administrative reforms, improved compliance, stronger enforcement, trade facilitation and greater efficiency in digital Customs operations.
According to Comptroller Oshoba, the significance of the latest record extends beyond the amount collected. He said the revenue generated by the Customs Service contributes to government resources used to support critical areas such as infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services.
He dedicated the achievement to the government and people of Nigeria while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for supporting reforms, automation and modernisation efforts aimed at improving Customs operations.
The Area Controller also recognised the role played by compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders. He commended Nigerians who have provided useful intelligence to the Service and encouraged businesses to continue embracing legitimate trade and compliance.
Oshoba stressed that stronger revenue performance gives government greater financial capacity to respond to national development needs while creating a more favourable environment for businesses to operate.
He, however, cautioned officers and men of the Command against becoming complacent following the record-breaking performance. According to him, the achievement should serve as motivation for the Command to improve further while maintaining professionalism and transparency.
The CAC directed personnel to ensure that revenue collection is balanced with effective trade facilitation and respect for legitimate stakeholders. He further called for the prompt resolution of genuine disputes and warned against Customs procedures unnecessarily delaying lawful business activities.
The latest performance represents another significant milestone for the Apapa Area Command and reinforces its contribution to Nigeria’s revenue drive. With the Command recording both a record monthly collection in July and a new single-day benchmark in August, the focus now shifts to sustaining the momentum while ensuring that revenue generation goes hand in hand with efficient service delivery, compliance and legitimate trade facilitation.
