A police corporal attached to the Ajaokuta Division of the Kogi State Police Command has reportedly shot his girlfriend, identified as Woman Corporal Grace, dead before taking his own life with an AK-47 rifle.
The incident allegedly occurred at about 9 p.m. on October 23, 2026. However, the circumstances surrounding the reported deaths had not been independently verified at the time of the report.
According to a source cited by SaharaReporters, the officer, identified as Corporal Amos, resumed duty as a station guard at approximately 6 p.m. but allegedly left his post a few hours later and went to Grace’s quarters.
The source claimed that Amos shot Grace multiple times before turning the weapon on himself. Grace reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to her shoulder, lower abdomen and leg.
Although the motive has not been officially established, the source linked the incident to alleged relationship difficulties between the two officers.
They had reportedly been in a relationship for several years but began experiencing trust issues and accusations of infidelity in recent months. Their disagreements allegedly escalated into physical altercations and threats.
According to the source, the officers had previously been detained by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), who reportedly advised them to end the relationship to prevent further conflict.
The latest incident has raised concerns about the circumstances that may have preceded the reported deaths and whether earlier disputes had been adequately addressed.
As of the time of the report, the Kogi State Police Command had yet to release an official statement confirming the incident. Further details, including the official circumstances of the deaths and the recovery of the firearm, remained unavailable.
The allegations surrounding the incident have not been independently confirmed, and official information from the police is still awaited.
