Activist Calls for INEC Chairman’s Resignation Over Alleged Bias

Activist Mahdi Shehu has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing allegations of bias and misconduct.

In a post shared on X, Shehu argued that the situation surrounding the electoral body’s leadership could undermine public trust if not addressed.

He criticised what he described as silence from the presidency, warning that inaction may further erode confidence in the commission.

Shehu also raised concerns over alleged controversies linked to the chairman’s online activities, questioning the explanations provided.

He insisted that stepping down was the only viable option to restore credibility to the electoral process.

The activist warned that both the INEC leadership and the government risk political consequences if the concerns remain unresolved.
