Tinubu Reshuffles Military Leadership, Appoints New Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has announced a sweeping shake-up of Nigeria’s military leadership, removing Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa and other service chiefs in a major restructuring move.

According to a statement on Friday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, the overhaul aims to strengthen the nation’s security framework and enhance coordination within the Armed Forces.

The newly appointed officers include General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu commended the outgoing service chiefs for their dedication and service to the nation, acknowledging their contributions to maintaining national stability. He charged the new appointees to demonstrate professionalism, vigilance, and unity in leading the Armed Forces.

“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement concluded.
