Several police officers have reportedly been kille
Several police officers have reportedly been killed after suspected bandits attacked a vehicle conveying personnel from Sokoto State to Zamfara State for a special duty assignment.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday while the officers were travelling to Zamfara. However, the exact number of casualties and whether any members of the team survived had not been confirmed at the time of this report.
Videos and photographs said to have been obtained from the scene showed the bodies of some officers inside a bus. Their hands and legs appeared to have been tied with ropes. Other images showed personal belongings believed to belong to the personnel scattered around the area, as people gathered following the attack.
A vehicle reportedly used to convey the officers was also seen with visible bloodstains, pointing to the violence that occurred during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the identities of the officers and the precise number of those killed, remain unclear based on the information available.
The reported incident has renewed concerns about insecurity across Nigeria’s North-West, where armed groups commonly described as bandits have continued to attack communities, ambush travellers, kill residents and abduct people for ransom.
As of the time of publication, further official details about the attack had not been provided in the report.
