Broda Shaggi Reveals How Stray Bullet Nearly Took His Life During Filming in Ogun State

Popular Nigerian comedian and skitmaker Broda Shaggi has opened up about a terrifying experience in which he was hit by a stray bullet while filming at the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026.

The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, shared details of the incident in a video posted on his YouTube channel, recounting the frightening moments that left him fearing for his life.

According to him, everything happened suddenly when he heard a loud bang. He explained that the environment appeared to fall silent, even though he could still see people moving and talking around him.

“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he recalled.

Broda Shaggi said he became aware of his injury after touching his hip and noticing blood, which made him realise that he had been struck by a stray bullet.

Recounting his thoughts during the ordeal, the comedian said his greatest desire at that moment was to survive.

“I didn’t want to d+e. I just don’t want to d+e,” he said.

He was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel administered first aid. However, he explained that the facility lacked the necessary equipment to provide further treatment, leading to his transfer to another hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency room.

Broda Shaggi Opens Up About His Recovery

Beyond the physical injury, the incident also took an emotional toll on the comedian, particularly because it temporarily prevented him from engaging in the creative activities that had defined his career.

Broda Shaggi revealed that being unable to act, dance or sing left him feeling helpless as he struggled to adjust to life during his recovery.

“I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved,” he said.

Despite the difficulties, the skitmaker began exploring other ways to remain creatively active. He returned to writing content and started working on a YouTube series while recovering.

He also disclosed that watching videos of his colleagues was an emotional experience. Although their skits sometimes made him laugh, they also brought him to tears as he wondered whether he would ever return to his previous level of activity.

The comedian admitted that he was particularly worried about losing the connection he had built with his audience during his time away from making skits.

“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he said, explaining that he feared people might eventually forget him.

Comedian Remains Hopeful Despite Ordeal

Despite the frightening experience and the challenges he faced during recovery, Broda Shaggi said he remained hopeful throughout the difficult period.

He expressed his belief that God would not abandon him, maintaining a positive outlook despite the uncertainty surrounding his recovery and return to his usual creative activities.

His account offers a glimpse into the personal struggles entertainers can face when unexpected circumstances interrupt their careers, highlighting not only the physical challenges of recovery but also the emotional impact of being unable to do what they love.
