23 Year Old Nigerian Law School Student Dies at Lagos Campus

A 23 year old student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Faith Ajoke Alayande, has died at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that Alayande was found unresponsive within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026.

According to the police, the incident was reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the hostel’s Chief Matron at about 6:30 a.m. Officers were subsequently deployed to the scene, while the student’s remains were taken to a morgue for preservation.

The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

A relative and one of Alayande’s hostel mates reportedly became concerned after being unable to locate her and alerted others, leading to the discovery.

Meanwhile, Uchenna Marvin, who said he supervised Alayande during her university years, described her death as heartbreaking. He recalled that she had previously participated in academic discussions about life and death while working on research related to Medical Law.

Alayande had completed her university education before enrolling at the Nigerian Law School earlier in 2026.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding her death as investigations continue.
