The Federal Government has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters to the United Kingdom to help clear pending passport applications and improve access to passport services for Nigerians living in the country.
The intervention follows a directive from the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, to the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
According to the NIS, the team is expected to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending, new and renewal passport applications.
The team will also visit selected cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible Nigerians outside major centres to access the service more easily.
The exercise is open to Nigerians with pending applications, first time applicants and passport holders with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew their documents.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
However, the NIS advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule has been released, including the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times. Nigerians in the UK are encouraged to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates.

The Service also confirmed that its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will continue operating throughout the intervention. Existing home delivery services will also remain available.
The NIS said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to make passport services more accessible, efficient and responsive to Nigerians in the diaspora.
