Suspected bandits have attacked Abudu Community in Apado Ward, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting a pregnant woman and two other residents after reportedly stealing about ₦4 million during a late night raid.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday night, causing panic among residents as they carried out the attack.
Sources said the attackers initially came to rob residents before making away with approximately ₦4 million. They later abducted three people, including a pregnant woman, and fled to an unknown location.
The Executive Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Hon. Lukman Olayinka, confirmed the incident in a video, assuring residents that security agencies were working to rescue the victims safely.
Speaking in Yoruba, Olayinka said available intelligence indicated that the attackers were primarily motivated by robbery and expressed confidence that the victims would soon regain their freedom.
“The information we have is that those who were kidnapped won’t stay long. The kidnappers came with the aim of robbery. They came to steal money, but when they saw the amount available, they believed the residents had even more. By God’s grace, they will be apprehended,” he said.
The whereabouts of the three abducted victims, including the pregnant woman, remain unknown as security operatives continue rescue efforts.
