Man Dies at Bayelsa Guest House as Police Launch Investigation

The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 40 year old mobile phone technician, identified simply as Felix, who was found dead in a guest house in Yenagoa under circumstances that are yet to be fully established.

The incident occurred at a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa, where the deceased had reportedly checked in with a woman whose identity has not yet been confirmed. According to eyewitness accounts, Felix was discovered naked and unresponsive inside one of the rooms on Wednesday morning after a cleaner entered the room during routine cleaning and immediately raised the alarm.

Felix was said to be a well known mobile phone repairer who operated at the shopping complex in Ekeki. News of his death drew colleagues, friends and other traders to the area, where many gathered to mourn the loss of the technician.

Residents who were at the scene before police secured the premises claimed that sachets of alcoholic drinks were found on a table inside the room. However, authorities have not confirmed whether the items are connected to the cause of death.

Police have arrested three persons, including the owner of the guest house and the cleaner who discovered the body, as part of ongoing investigations. Felix’s brother, identified as Dennis, was also briefly detained after he was found in possession of the deceased’s mobile phone but was later released after providing an explanation that investigators considered satisfactory.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Musa Mohammed, said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of Felix’s death. He added that those arrested are being questioned while authorities continue to gather evidence surrounding the incident.

The police urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to establish the facts before drawing conclusions.
