The Benue State Government has confirmed the death of a former Secretary to the State Government, Prof. David Salifu, who was killed after sustaining gunshot injuries in an attack by suspected bandits along the Wukari–Makurdi road.
According to reports, Salifu was attacked on Thursday while travelling and later died from his injuries in the early hours of Friday.
In a condolence statement, the state government described the late professor as a respected public servant known for his integrity, academic excellence, and contributions to governance and human capital development in Benue State.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, through the Secretary to the State Government, expressed sympathy to the bereaved family, the academic community, and all who knew the deceased, noting that he left behind a strong legacy of service and dedication.
