NUPRC Sets June 12 Deadline for 2025 Licensing Round Bids

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced that the submission of technical and commercial bids for the 2025 licensing round by prequalified applicants will officially close on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. (WAT).

In a statement shared via its official X account on Tuesday, the commission said the deadline is in line with the guidelines governing the 2025 licensing round.

According to the regulator, only prequalified applicants are expected to submit their technical and commercial bids before the deadline.

The 2025 licensing round is part of Nigeria’s broader strategy to attract investment into the oil and gas sector by granting exploration and production rights through a competitive bidding process.

Back in December, the NUPRC launched the bidding process for 50 oil and gas blocks, with the goal of drawing an estimated $10 billion in investments into the country’s energy industry.

The available assets include 15 onshore blocks, 19 shallow water blocks, 15 frontier blocks, and one deepwater block. The commission also explained that the licensing process would span roughly six months and follow a two-stage bidding structure, consisting of a qualification phase and a final bid submission stage.

Earlier in the year, the commission encouraged both local and international investors to take advantage of opportunities presented by the 2025 licensing round in Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector.
