MFM Suspends Vigils Nationwide Over Security Concerns

The leadership of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has instructed all branches and ministries across Nigeria to temporarily suspend vigils and ensure that church programmes end by 8:00 p.m. until further notice due to rising security concerns in the country.

The directive was issued through an internal circular dated June 5, 2026, signed by the Director of Administration (International Headquarters and Nigeria), Temitope A. Olawale. According to the church, the measure is aimed at protecting worshippers and church workers amid the current security situation nationwide.

Under the new guidelines, all church services, meetings, and activities at regional, zonal, and branch levels must conclude no later than 8:00 p.m. The ministry also announced the temporary suspension of overnight prayer sessions, vigils, and related programmes across its branches.

However, the church clarified that where necessary, vigils may be converted into evening prayer meetings, provided they end on or before the approved closing time.

MFM emphasized that the decision is purely preventive and not intended to interrupt worship activities. Rather, it is designed to safeguard the lives and well-being of members during a period of heightened insecurity.

Church leaders, including Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, Zonal Pastors, and Branch Pastors, have been directed to ensure full compliance with the instruction. Mega Regional Overseers were also tasked with communicating the update to all relevant departments and church units for immediate enforcement.

The directive takes immediate effect and will remain in place pending further review by the church leadership.
