Navy Seizes 939 Metric Tons of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil

The Nigerian Navy has intercepted two vessels carrying 939 metric tons of suspected stolen crude oil worth over ₦4 billion in the Niger Delta region.

The operation, carried out on April 8, followed intelligence gathering and involved coordinated efforts between naval and air units.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of 26 crew members linked to the vessels, with additional support provided by key national security agencies.

The Navy also revealed that another vessel was seized days later, signaling intensified efforts to combat oil theft.

Recent operations have led to the destruction of illegal refining sites and the recovery of large volumes of stolen petroleum products.

Officials say the crackdown is part of a broader strategy to curb oil theft, which continues to impact Nigeria’s energy sector and revenue.
