A wave of violent attacks disrupted Easter celebrations across northern Nigeria, leaving at least 16 people dead and many others displaced in Benue, Kaduna, Katsina, and Borno states.
In Benue State, suspected armed herders attacked several communities in Gwer East Local Government Area, killing 10 people and injuring others. The нападение forced residents to flee their homes, with local authorities describing it as unprovoked and deeply disturbing.
Kaduna State also witnessed deadly violence as terrorists stormed two churches in Ariko village, killing five worshippers and abducting several others during Easter services. Troops of the Nigerian Army later rescued 31 abducted victims after engaging the attackers in a gun battle.
In Katsina State, renewed bandit attacks led to the death of a police officer, while several facilities, including a health centre and shops, were looted by the assailants.
Meanwhile, in Borno State, suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a community in Chibok, destroying homes and shops and forcing residents to flee, although no deaths were recorded in that incident.
Security forces have since intensified operations across the affected regions, with authorities condemning the attacks and pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
