Woman Sues TikTok Star Peller Over Defamation

A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Odigie, has filed a lawsuit against popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, over alleged defamation, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy.

In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, her lawyers accused the influencer of verbally abusing her and recording a video of the incident without consent at Folixxx Lounge in Lekki.

According to the claim, the confrontation occurred on January 6, 2026, when Odigie was at the lounge to purchase food. She alleged that after reacting to Peller’s loud behavior, he confronted her and used insulting language in public.

The legal team also stated that Peller recorded the incident and shared the video across multiple social media platforms, where it quickly went viral and led to online harassment and cyberbullying against their client.

Odigie claims the incident caused reputational damage, emotional distress, and safety concerns.

She is demanding ₦395 million in damages, including compensation for defamation, emotional trauma, and legal costs.

The lawyers also asked the influencer to remove the video, stop further distribution, and issue a public apology across his social media platforms and in national newspapers.

They warned that legal action would proceed if the demands are not met within the stated timeframe.

The case follows a widely shared video of the confrontation, after which Peller publicly apologised, admitting his actions were inappropriate.
