At least 23 people were killed and 146 others injured following multiple explosions in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The blasts occurred on Monday night at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Monday Market, and the Post Office area.
Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed that a total of 169 victims were evacuated to hospitals across the city. Of these, 108 are receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, 20 at Umaru Shehu Hospital, and 17 at Maiduguri Specialist Hospital.
Residents expressed concern over the resurgence of violence in the city, which had experienced relative peace in recent years.
Security agencies have since responded to the incident, with the police deploying their Explosive Ordnance Department to assess the affected areas.
Authorities said joint security operatives and emergency responders are managing the situation and have urged residents to remain calm but vigilant.
The incident comes shortly after another attack on a military location in Ajilari, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, raising fresh concerns about security in the region.
