Five Security Officers Arrested Over Airport Breach Involving El-Rufai

Five security officers have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes to grant former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai access to restricted areas at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 12, 2026.

The officers, drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Aviation Security, allegedly facilitated unauthorized entry into restricted zones, obstructing lawful security operations.

According to a joint investigation involving the Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the officers confessed to receiving bribes. Those detained include Ayuba Yakubu, Murtala Inuwa, Najeeb Murtala, Musa Adamu, and Salihu Victor.

The suspects have been handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for prosecution.

Authorities also stated that other officers who did not accept bribes but improperly facilitated access will face administrative disciplinary action.
