The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has directed an immediate transition to a fully cashless system, ordering all cash-based transactions across its operations to stop by February 29, 2026.
The directive was issued in a memo signed by Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, instructing all departments to adopt approved digital and electronic payment channels for official activities.
According to the memo, the move follows approval by the Federal Executive Council, which mandated government agencies to align with the national push toward a cashless economy.
FAAN warned that non-compliance with the directive will attract strict penalties, describing the policy as part of broader efforts to reduce reliance on physical cash and strengthen digital financial systems within public institutions.
