Nigeria’s Super Eagles have recorded a major rise in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, moving up to third place in Africa and 26th globally following a strong showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The national team climbed 12 places, jumping from 38th to 26th in the world, after finishing third overall at the continental tournament. Their performance earned them the highest points increase in the rankings, with a gain of 79.09 points, reflecting consistency and quality across the competition.
Under head coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria won six of their seven matches, securing victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, Algeria, and Egypt. Their only setback came in the semi-final, where they were edged out by tournament hosts Morocco in a penalty shootout.
With this rise, the Super Eagles now sit behind AFCON champions Senegal, who are ranked 12th in the world, and Morocco, who occupy eighth place globally. Algeria and Egypt complete Africa’s top five teams.
On the global stage, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany currently make up FIFA’s top 10 nations, highlighting the competitive landscape Nigeria continues to push toward.
