Wike: No More Judges Living in Rented Houses

Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to end the era of judges living in rented apartments or staying with relatives.

“By the end of President Tinubu’s first tenure, no judge of the FCT High Court will be living in rented quarters,” Wike declared.

He announced plans to deliver 10 duplexes each for the Court of Appeal and Federal High Court, and 20 duplexes for the FCT High Court.

Wike emphasized that these homes will permanently belong to the judges even after retirement:

“This is a policy of Mr. President. When judges retire, they go home with their houses. Nobody will reclaim them.”

He also revealed that the digitization of the FCT High Court has been included in the 2025 budget, with immediate implementation set to begin.
