Three important gas infrastructure projects in the states of Delta and Imo are scheduled to be inaugurated by Tinubu.
In keeping with his pledge to dramatically increase the use of gas to boost Nigeria’s economy, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria will soon dedicate three important gas infrastructure projects being carried out by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and partners in the Delta and Imo States.
According to a statement released on Friday by the presidential spokeswoman, Ajuri Ngelale, the projects—two in Imo and one in Delta—assist the federal government in its endeavour to increase the value of the country’s gas resources while doing away with gas flaring.
From the administration’s beginning, the projects were completed more quickly in order to support the overarching goal of increasing domestic gas supply, which is a vital component of economic growth.
AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 (GPP – 2), an expansion of Kwale Gas Processing Plant (GPP – 1), which already supplies roughly 130MMscf/d of gas to the domestic market, is one among the projects mentioned in the statement. It has a capacity of 200mmscf/d. Lean gas is delivered by the OB3 Gas Pipeline and 200MMscf/d of rich gas is processed by the processing plant. This additional gas supply will let Nigeria’s industrialization proceed at a quick pace. In addition, the facility will generate 100,000 MTPA of butane and 160,000 MTPA of propane, lowering reliance on LPG imports. AHL Limited, an established joint venture controlled by NNPC Limited and SEEPCO, is developing the AHL Gas Plant.
The 200mmscfd NNPC-AHL GPP2 is expected to ramp when it has begun injecting gas and scheduled to ramp up to 180mmscfd if not 200mmscfd by end of May, 2024.
The ANOH Gas Processing Plant (AGPC), a 300MMscf/d integrated gas processing facility intended to handle non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field in Imo State, is the second project slated for presidential inauguration. Condensate, LPG, and dry gas will all be produced at the plant.
The gas from the ANOH gas plant will greatly expand the availability of domestic gas, which will boost electricity production and speed up industrialization. The ANOH Gas Processing Company, an established joint venture held equally by NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, is developing the ANOH Gas Plant.
Since late December, AGPC (300mmscfd) has been mechanically finished, and pre-inauguration activities are currently being performed.
The third project is the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project, which entails the 36″ x 23.3km ANOH-OB3 Project’s engineering, procurement, and construction.
Dry gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South (ANOH) primary treatment facility (PTF) will be evacuated via the Transmission Gas Pipeline and delivered into the OB3 pipeline system at the Custody Transfer Metering Station (CTMS) of OB3. The estimated combined capacity of two distinct gas processing production trains from AGPC & SPDC JV, each with a capacity of 300MMscf/d, is 600MMscf/d.
By May 15, 2024, the 23.3 km Anoh-OB3 PPL is expected to be mechanically completed.
