Former Tottenham. star, Jamie O’Hara has slammed Diego Simeone, describing the Atletico Madrid boss and his players as disgraceful and horrible following the LaLiga holders loss to Manchester City on Wednesday.
The defeat did not go down well for Atletico Madrid, having relied on cynicism rather than quality for much of the game to outdo the Premier League side.
Stefan Savic kicked out at Felipe, at the closing stage of the game and attempted to drag him from the pitch in order to save their time as they sought for an equaliser.
The Spanish side also had Jack Grealish’s hair pulled by Savic, who also headbutted Raheem Sterling.
And when Felipe was sent off for a second yellow card, Diego Simeone sparked a furious reaction on the touchline.
After the full-time whistle, Savic and Grealish clashed in the tunnel.
And O’Hara believes Atletico’s hot heads meant they spurned chances to level the tie.
O’Hara told talkSPORT: “It was a disgrace. Simeone should be ashamed of himself. This shows why he’s not at a big club like Liverpool or Real Madrid.”
He noted that the Spanish side wasted ten minutes of their precious time trying to kick Manchester City players, and “acting like school children,” and their manager “clapping the fans.”
“City eventually overcame their stubborn hosts. They were so erratic and gung-ho that they blew their chances,” he said.
