The permanent secretary for the State House, Jalal Arabi, said some of the vehicles currently being used at the Presidential Villa were purchased in 1999.
He said most of the vehicles in the Presidential Villa which was bought at that time have become very difficult to maintain.
The Cable reports that Arabi while speaking during the 2020 budget defence at the National Assembly said there is an urgent need for these vehicles to be replaced.
Arabi said: “With the release of funds in 2018, some of the vehicles, especially security vehicles were replaced, spares purchased but we are still nowhere near our optimal level since no vehicles were purchased this year (2019).”
He also said that the proposals on the budget are in line with Nigeria’s provisions in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) document as discussed and agreed with the Budget Office of the Federation.
