FG Bans Admission and Transfer Into SS3 Nationwide From 2026

The Federal Government has announced a nationwide ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three SS3 in all public and private schools, starting from the 2026 2027 academic session. The directive was disclosed in a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to the ministry, the policy is aimed at curbing examination malpractice and restoring credibility to Nigeria’s education system. Authorities expressed concern over the rising use of special centres and last minute student movement for examination advantages. As a result, admissions and transfers will now be allowed only into Senior Secondary School One SS1 and Senior Secondary School Two SS2, with no exceptions for SS3.

The government stated that the measure will ensure proper academic monitoring, continuity in learning, and fairness in public examinations. School owners, principals, and administrators across the country have been directed to comply fully with the new policy, with warnings that violations will attract sanctions under existing education regulations. The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic standards and restoring trust in the nation’s examination system.
