The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has confirmed a shocking attack on its office by over a dozen Nigerian Air Force personnel from the Sam Ethnan Barracks in Ikeja. According to IKEDC spokesperson Kingsley Okotie, the military personnel arrived in a truck around 8 a.m. and brutally assaulted staff members, stealing laptops and phones, and vandalizing property worth millions of naira 1 [2).
The attack was reportedly in response to the disconnection of electricity supply to the Air Force base 10 days prior, due to an outstanding debt of over N4 billion. Okotie alleged that the military personnel destroyed offices, stole vehicles, and damaged IT infrastructure, including disabling CCTV cameras
In a surprising turn of events, the Nigerian Air Force has since issued a formal apology to Ikeja Electric, condemning the attack and promising disciplinary action against those responsible
