The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasiru Idris, has sacked his special adviser on Youth, Babangida Sarki, for allegedly posting gay pornography on his WhatsApp status.
It was gathered that Mr Sarki on Sunday posted a short video of gay pornography on his status.
The video, which sources said he posted accidentally, drew the ire of his contacts, including the governor.
But a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Ahmed Idris, on Monday said the “post trampled on the moral and social ethos of the Kebbi society, which is largely Islamic”.
While condemning the action of the sacked aide, the governor’s spokesman warned public officials against engaging in acts that would dent the reputation of the state.
“Kauran Gwandu [Governor Nasiru Idris] vowed that his administration would not condone any of such acts that denigrate the morality and integrity of the people of the state.
“The Governor also cautioned other public officers against making such heinous postings in their social media handles and other public for a,” the statement read.
When contacted for comment, Mr Sarki denied posting the video on his status, saying it was the handiwork of his enemies.
He, however, accepted the decision of the governor in good faith.
“It was not me posting such bad videos on my WhatsApp status. Every good thinking person knows that it’s the handwork of enemies, and I take it in good faith. God knows what’s right better than us,” he said.
